Nichelle Nichols, who held the coveted role of Lieutenant Nyota Uhura on "Star Trek", now 82 years young, suffered a mild stroke on Wednesday.  All reports say, like Lieutenant Uhura, Nichelle is strong and in good spirits.

Nichelle played the role of Communications Officer Lieutenant Uhura with class and dignity, pioneer role-modeling for so many young Black women, and the pride of Black men in the '60's.

One of the highlights and momentous demonstrations of how successful she was in her role came as 'Star Trek" made history when they aired television's believed to be "first interracial kiss" between Lieutenant Uhara and Captain Kirk.  She starred in both the television series and film version of "Star Trek"
